Built from Microsoft's official lifecycle data export, which covers commercial Windows, Windows Server, Office, Microsoft 365, SQL Server, Exchange Server, SharePoint, Dynamics, Visual Studio, System Center, and dozens of other product lines. "Family" groupings on this page are derived by this tool (Microsoft's own export has no family/category column) — a best-effort browsability aid, not an official Microsoft taxonomy.
The status column states the phase a product is in today and the date that phase runs to — not the last milestone it passed. "Extended support" means it still gets security updates, just no new features or non-security fixes. "ESU available" means standard support is over and the only remaining updates are paid Extended Security Updates. "Retired" means no updates of any kind. "Supported (Modern policy)" products don't follow the Mainstream/Extended model at all: Microsoft keeps servicing them for as long as you stay on a current release, with no fixed end date unless a full retirement has been announced for the whole product line.
ESU is only ever shown where Microsoft's export carries real ESU dates for the product — this tool never infers a paid-coverage window from the absence of one. One consequence worth knowing: the export represents ESU as Fixed-policy "Extended Security Update Year N" rows, and Windows 10 is a Modern-policy product, so its consumer and commercial ESU programs are not in the export at all. Windows 10 therefore reads as "Retired" here even though paid ESU exists for it. Check Microsoft's lifecycle site for Windows 10 ESU specifically.
The default view shows major products — the server and client platforms and large on-prem workloads most organizations plan migrations around. Search always covers all 2,559 records regardless of that setting, and "Show all products" turns the browse scope off entirely.
