Description

Project Operations supports Externally scheduled projects, where organizations use their own scheduling engine and manage project schedules outside of Project Operations. Previously, the Copy Project capability was available only for Project for the Web scheduled projects. Customers using externally scheduled projects had to manually recreate project structures, configurations, and related data when starting similar projects or creating project templates. With this feature, Copy Project is now supported for externally scheduled projects, bringing parity across project types through a unified copy experience. You can copy an externally scheduled project either to a new project or to an existing empty project, simplifying project creation and template-based planning. As part of the enhanced copy experience, you can also review and update key project attributes before completing the copy operation, including fields such as Contracting Unit, Owning Company, Calendar Template, and other project-specific settings. This provides greater flexibility and enables organizations to adapt copied projects to their target business context without requiring post-copy updates. Business Value: If you work with external scheduling tools, you can now skip the hassle of starting over. This update lets you copy those projects directly into Microsoft Dataverse, so creating a new project is quick and simple. You save time, cut down on manual work, and keep your team focused on delivering results instead of repeating tasks. Enabled for: Enabled by admins/makers/marketers for end users
